Gortys is after
Festos the
most well known ancient ruin of South Crete. Gortys is located
near the village of Agioi Deka (10

and in earlier times it was an important city. Often,Gortys
is called the capital of Roman Crete. In Roman times, Gortys
was built just above an old churchyard. The first thing you
will see entering Gortys, is the basilica of St. Titus.
