Ziria - Corinthia (Greece)

Ziria. Ziria is a mountain in northern Peloponnese in the prefecture Korinthia in Greece. The Greeks call it Kilini. It is the second highest mountain of the Peloponnese, the highest point is 2374 meters. It is one of the few mountains in Greece which has eight peaks over 2,000 meters.

The whole area is rich in water, everywhere are flowing streams and rivers. Ziria in winter is a popular ski resort. In summer it is a popular hiking area. Because Ziria is not far from Athens, this attracts many tourists throughout the year. Ziria is also ideal for climbers. Do you want to climb the highest point; its possible through Ano Trikala, or via the plateau of Ziria (you can come here by car, the road is good).

Ziria actually consists of two mountains: Ziria and Mikri Ziria (2086 meters high). Mikri (small) Ziria is west of Ziria. Between the two mountains is the Flambouritsa valley. In this valley the river Sythos springs. Flambouritsa is very popular among hikers. West of Mikri Ziria is the village Stymfalia besides the namesake lake and east of Ziria the lake of Doxa and south of Lake Feneos. At Feneos are excavations of antiquity to visit.
