Samothraki, the island with the highest mountain peak in
the Aegean, stands in the Thracian Sea 28 n.m. opposite Alexandroupolis.
It can be reached on a daily basis either from the port of
Alexandroupolis or from the ports of Kavala and Lavrio two
or three times a week. The island's natural environment is
unique and peculiar combining clean beaches, rich vegetation
and running waters. Samothraki is the only island with such
vast sycamore forests. The great number of streams create impressive
waterfalls and scenic ponds called "vathres" where
swimming can be a unique experience. The mountain Saos with
the peaks "Feggari" and "Louloudi" and
other peaks rising up to 1,664 mt, give the opportunities bath
to experienced climbers and simple walkers to come in contact with
the island's unique nature.

as two municipal camping areas in a beautiful environment by

seafood. Boats tour round the island on a daily basis stopping
for a swim at the wonderful south-eastern beaches that can be
reached only by boat. The waters of Samothraki are among the
