Trikala Greece
Trikala. The prefecture of Trikala is located in the northwestern part of Thessaly and borders the prefecture of Grevena to the north, the prefectures of Arta and Ioannina to the west, the prefecture of Karditsa to the south and the prefecture of Larissa to the east. Is a harmonious combination of mountain and plain.
Trikala is a place where anyone can combine cultural, religious, naturalist and active holidays.
It has a population of about 140,000 and is dominated by the Chassia and Antichassia Mountains as well as the Pindos Mountain range.
Trikala town
A beautiful and modern town with rich history. It is built at the same place where ancient Tricca used to exist and which was known from Homer's time. It is considered to be the home town of Askliopios, father of medicine. Trikala is a contemporary financial, cultural and tourist center and provides very good car and rail connections with the most important cities in Greece. It is the ideal place to stay for short holidays, excursions and business meetings. The river Litheos, a natural priceless ornament, with plenty of water, crosses the town. It also has a modern street planning, comfortable pedestrian roads, spacious squares and all sorts of places for entertainment. The town of Trikala displays a great variety of monuments and sights worth visiting, like Asklipion, an ancient healing place, the castle of the town, Kursum Tzami (a mosque) the old fashionable quarter "Varousi" with the imposing houses of rich people and the meta byzantine churches, the Museum of Folk Tradition.

The town of Kalambaka
Meteora: This place is famous for its rock formations of unusual shapes, on the top on which Byzantine monks chose to built their monastic community. This is one of the most significant natural monuments of the world and is protected by UNESCO.
The Alpine-like part: the highst peaks are here Mount Lakmos (2295 meters) and Mount Tzoumerka (2429 meters) and between them flows river Acheloos, which is the longest river of Greece,
The cave of Theopetra: The cave of Theopetra is located in the northeastern side of the calcareous rock on which the community of Theopetra is built.
The folklore museum of Krania: Housed in the old school of the biggest village of the region of Aspropotamos, the folklore museum of Krania is really a gem not only because of its beautiful exterior but also because it displays very important exhibits.
The waterfalls of Trikala:
The beautiful waterfalls of Kastania, Agia Paraskevi and Lakmos are exceptional to see.
