Chora Samothrace (Samothraki). Chora is the capital of the island of Samothrace, which is located 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) from the port of Kamariotisssa. It is a traditional village situated on the slopes of Mount Saos, 300 meters (984 miles) above sea level. It is a picturesque village built in the 15th century. The houses have ceramic tiles and the streets, alleys and squares are paved with stones. Here in Chora are many shops where local products are sold, souvenir shops, taverns and typical Greek cafés. There is a very famous traditional baker who bakes bread on wood coals. At the highest point in the village is the medieval castle. Worth seeing in Chora are the Ethnographic Museum, the Municipal Library and the Church of the Ascension.
