Mykonos town. Mykonos Town or Chora, as the Greeks call it, is a beautiful town in the west of the Greek island of Mykonos. This city is often photographed and depicted in calendars and posters. The five famous windmills and the houses next to the sea with waves splashing against them are so picturesque. Mykonos Town is built on a peninsula and in the northern part are the marina and a new big port. At the marina, there is a nice, sandy beach.
On the southern side of the peninsula are the famous and much photographed windmills. A walk through the narrow streets is a fantastic venture. The whitewashed houses with red or blue windows and doors, the narrow alleys and stairs to the two-story high houses are beautiful to see. The residents really love their town, and adorn it by hanging flowers over the walls and placing overflowing flowerpots everywhere. Small shops and boutiques are plentiful, and you’ll find all kinds of expensive, internationally famous stores in Chora. It is busy here all day and night and you will not be bored here. Park best at the marina located a few hundred meters (less than 1,000 feet) from the center. Parking here is free.
