Larissa city is the capital of the department in the district of Thessaly in Greece. This city is centrally located in the eastern part of the Plain of Thessaly, on the banks of the Pinios river. Larissa is one of the richest Greek cities because of the fertile environment and the well developed industry here. The location has played a positive role in economic development. After all, Larissa city lies between the two largest cities in Greece, Athens and Thessaloniki. Larissa is easily accessible either by highway or train. Larissa is located 350 kilometers (217 mi) from Athens and 152 kilometers (94 mi) from Thessaloniki.
