Agios Gerasimos. St. Gerasimos (Agios Gerasimos) is the patron saint of the island of Kefalonia. On the island of Kefalonia a monastery was founded by the saint and is located in the 'Omala area’, 15 kilometres east of Argostoli. The monastery was founded by Agios Gerasimos here in the year 1559. In the same place an older monastery was located which was built before in the year 1200. The monastery is dedicated to the Blessed Mother and was then by the villagers called "New Jerusalem." The last years before his death, Agios Gerasimos lived in a cave 1.5 kilometre from Lassi. Both the monastery and the cave can be visited today.
