Agios Dimitrios. Agios Dimitrios is located on the east coast of the Greek island of Alonissos, 14 kilometers (9 miles) north of Patiri. It is accessible by car within half an hour. The road from Patitiri to Agios Dimitrios is paved and runs through scenic Alonissos.
Agios Dimitrios is a hamlet with a beautiful white pebble beach, offering umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. On the beach various water sports are available, such as canoes. There is also a restaurant here.
Agios Dimitrios is situated opposite the island of Peristera on a sort of headland. Therefore, the water quickly gets very deep.
The village owes its name to the eponymous convent that was destroyed by pirates. In Agios Dimitrios there are small swamps that arise, especially in winter, after a rainfall. In summer, the water evaporates and the swamps are not evident. Many birds visit these small wetlands of Agios Dimitrios come autumn.
