Marathokampos. The region of Marathokampos lies in the southwest of the Greek island of Samos on the bay and includes the villages Marathokampos, Agia Kiriaki, Koumeika, Neochori and Skoureika and coastal towns Votsalakia (also called Kambos), Pefkos, Limnionas, Psili Ammos , Balos, Valsamo and Makria Pounta.
Marathokampos village is a traditional village with narrow streets with all kinds of arches and vaults, which is located 40 km from Samos town. Here is the mansion of hero Stamatis Georgiadis located that can be visited. On the slopes of the mountains Kerkis are several impressive caves, the best known is the Pythagoras cave, the cave of Panagia Sarantaskaliotissa (Saranta Skalia means forty steps) the cave of Panagia Makrini and the cave Kakoperato. At the foot of the mountain Kerkis is the monastery of Evangelistria.
In the village Marathokampos, that is situated high in the hills near the Kerkis Mountains,beautiful traditional houses can be seen. The village is partially car free, you can make a nice stroll through the narrow streets to taste the old-village atmosphere. In the village you can see some very beautiful churches.
From Marathokampos, which is surrounded by olive fields, you have a fantastic view of the bay, you can even see in a distance the island of Fourni located at Ikaria.
