Spoa. Spoa is a farming village in the northeast of the Greek island of Karpathos. It is located 24 kilometers (15 mi) north of Pigadia. By car it is accessible from Pigadia in 30 minutes. The route to Spoa is beautiful. On the road you will see a magnificent scenery, beautiful pine forests, impressive mountains and, of course, the sparkling sea.
It is a traditional village and it seems like time has completely stopped. You can tell by the way the inhabitants of the village live, everything goes siga-siga (slowly-slowly).
You can park your car on the outskirts of the village and walk through the narrow alleys of the village. The village has a number of cafes and taverns. At the entrance of the village you can see the spot where women once came to wash their family’s clothes.
The village is situated on a hillside overlooking the port of Aghios Nikolaos which is 800 meters (about half a mile) further, on the seafront. When you look around you will see many vineyards.
Aghios Nikolaos is the harbor that belongs to Spoa. There you will find some taverns, apartments and hotels.
