Avlaki. Avlaki is located between Evdilos and Armenistis, in the north of the Greek island of Ikaria. The village lies on the slopes of a wooded hill. A road sign indicates that there is a way to "Avlaki beach”.
Through a narrow road with hairpin bends you come to the harbour where fishing boats are moored and where many of these boats are on the quay to be restored. Avlaki is a typical Greek fishing village and the harbour is a tavern. Avlaki attracts tourists who love peace and quiet, they want to be among the Greeks.
Can you swim in avlaki? Yes you can, if you like a rocky beach. Because there's really no sandy beach at all. Greeks come here often for a swim because the bay and the harbour are completely protected from wind and waves.
From Avlaki you can make very nice trips. From Avlaki, there is a mountain road that takes you through all kinds of bends to villages in a fantastic mountain setting. Here on the mountain is Moni Theoktistis, whith a small church in a cave beneath a large rock.
