Kataraktis - Lefkada (Greece)
Waterfalls (Kataraktis). The waterfalls on Lefkada are found near the village of Rachi ,only 3 km away from the tourist resort of Nidri. These beautiful waterfalls are in a canyon called Dimosaris. From Nidri, it is a walk of about 40 minutes to get to the waterfalls, which many people do. You can also drive by car and park the car at the beginning of the gorge. Good shoes are recommended.
Follow then the trails through the beautiful green nature and walk upwards along the stream and you get closer to the falls. The footpath runs up and is about 500 meters long. Be careful, the paths are uneven and winding, with many stones. The Nature though, is incredibly beautiful during this ramble upwards. You hear the water streaming! Even in the month July when we were there, there was still a considerable flow of water down, a very beautiful sight! When you are up near to the waterfall, between the steep cliffs, there it is a lot cooler and the water is refreshing and bright. At the bottom there is a stall where honey is sold and there is a nice terrace under the trees.
