Panormos (Panormo). Panormos is a small village on the island of Crete, about 10 kilometres from Rethymnon. The village has developed tourism enormously in recent years, partly due to the settling of larger hotel chains. In spring and autumn it is nice and quiet and peaceful. In high season it gets very busy. Panormo is a typical Greek village with small alleys where you can taste the real Greek atmosphere. There are several good tavernas in the village and the harbour. There are no discos, but some nice bars. There is a bakery and a butchers. There are two beaches and due to the gradually sloping sea bottom it is a good place for families with children. The beautiful surroundings invite you to go walking. Some 25 kilometres from Panormo are the archaeological excavations of Eleftherna.
