Sangri (Sagri). Sagri is located 10 kilometers (6 mi) southeast of Naxos town on the lovely Greek island of Naxos. Actually there are two villages; Kato and Ano Sagri with a total of about 200 permanent residents. Here you immediately recognize the Venetian influences such as the many Venetian towers. The atmosphere is somewhat medieval due to the many Byzantine churches. This area is also accented by many windmills. One of the main attractions is the temple of Dimitra from the year 530 BC. The temple of Dimitra is at Gyroulas.
Many call Sagri "small Mystras" because of the many Byzantine churches. In the village, the monastery of Aghios Eleftherios now houses the ethnographic museum. Summer festivities here include exhibitions and cultural activities.
Beautiful beaches near Sangri are Mikri Vigla, Kastraki and Glyfada.
