Lakones. Lakones is located in the western part of Corfu, close to Paleokastritsa, 24 kilometres from Corfu Town. Basically Paleokastritsa belongs to Lakones and most people who live in Paleokastritsa, have tourist businesses in Paleokastritsa. The name ‘Lakones’ derives from Laconia (Lakonia), that’s the prefecture in the southeast of Peloponnese where the capital Sparta is. In the 18th century, refugees from that region settled here. Lakones offers stunning views over Paleokastritsa. The village lies on the slopes of Mount Arakli and has a narrow main street. There are several tavernas and cafes, and it seems like their balconies and terraces hang overlooking the sea. The view over the Ionian sea and Paleokastritsa is breath-taking. If we follow up the road we meet the "Bellavista" restaurant. There you should definitely take a break because the view here is truly magical.
