Moraitika. Moraitika is a seaside resort, 20 kilometres south of Corfu town. Moraitika owes its name to the inhabitants that emigrated here around 1500 from the Morias (another name for the Peloponnese) to this region. Moraitika is close to Messoggi (Messonghi), on a hill with beautiful views over the long beach. Those who prefer tranquillity, should definitely come there because you can taste the real Greek atmosphere. In the village there are many traditional nice tavernas and cafeterias. The residents of the village (about 1000) are generally farmers. In the summer they work in the tourism industry. The beach of Moraitika is very nice (sandy) and good for all types of water sports.
